Their book, published by Massey University Press, won the HarperCollins Publishers Award for Best Cover.
The judges said the design was “a complete package” and “a unique abstract cover, that really stands out.”
The book, which charts Holloway-Smith’s journey researching and uncovering the lost and forgotten murals of E. Mervyn Taylor, modernist artist and now member of the College of Creative Arts Hall of Fame, was also shortlisted for the 2019 Ockham Book Awards.
“The process, detail and material of the making and later uncovering of the murals of the subject is hinted at well in the cover.”
