Contained Memory Conference 2010 Pupuri Pohewa

The Contained Memory Conference brought together different cultural and theoretical orientations and multidisciplinary perspectives in a discourse on contained memory.
Keynote speakers and invited artists included: James E. Young, Dame Claudia Orange DNZM OBE, Professor Sir Mason Durie KNZM CNZM, Professor Kendall Phillips, Dr. Hans-Michael Herzog, Humberto Vélez, and Jenny Bornholdt.
Events associated with the conference included the invited artists’ exhibition at City Gallery Wellington, workshop and exclusive front and back of house tours of the collection of Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.
The conference was presented by Massey University’s College of Creative Arts in partnership with Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts, New York, USA, and Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa Tongarewa.
Selected papers from the conference formed the first issue of the Memory Connection journal.
